Every Woman’s Bra Faux Pas

Bras: necessary and functional wardrobe pieces for just about every woman. We start buying bras from about 13, we decide what colors we like best, what silhouettes we prefer, and what size we think are. But what we fail to learn are the sizes we grow into and ultimately how bras are meant to fit in general.

Robin Pereira, journalism major and junior at Hofstra University, was honest when asked if she knew her exact cup size, “I think I’m a D..something…” She said flustered, with her obvious spillage outside her current bra. But Robin is one of many women walking around in the wrong cup size.

Victoria’s Secret associates and bra specialists see this almost everyday.

Amanda, a sales specialist at Victoria’s Secret, discusses how misinformed women truly are, “Women come in, ask to be measured, and then freak out if they’re any larger than a C-cup. Mainly because women don’t understand what each cup size truly looks like, and how not everyone holds their breasts the same way.”

“Most people also don’t truly know how to measure,” she added.

Learn How to measure using the tips below:

  1. Measure the ribcage for the band size.
  2. Measure the fullest part of the breast.
  3. Calculate the difference in measurements.
  4. Count the difference in letters to find the cup size.

Ex: Rib cage= 32 Breast= 37 Subtract 37-32=5 Count with letters A(1) B(2) C(3) D(4) DD(5)

Her size= 32DD
